The redesign and rebranding of the ground floor restaurant of London’s iconic brutalist architecture landmark, The Barbican, under the new name of The Barbican Foodhall. The space, which spills out onto a waterside terrace, is both a restaurant and a food market, with a range of deli-style products to buy or consume at its counter-top bars and tables. SHH’s approach was to link the space back and celebrate the architecture of The Barbican itself, exposing the original concrete ceilings and using Cradley brick pavers for the flooring, to link it to the existing external walkways. Bespoke and vintage furniture, planting by Kate Gould, bespoke outdoor umbrellas or ‘urban trees’ and stunning lighting by .PSLAB BEIRUT also feature.
