SHH’s first project in Manchester for independent retailer Joy has been shortlisted for TWO awards at the REDS Awards 2005, inaugurated in 2004 by leading retail magazine RED. The two finalist places are the 28th and 29th time a project by SHH has been shortlisted for an award in the last four years, across a whole spectrum of awards from the RIBA Manser Medal to the Design Week and FX Awards in the UK to the Chain Store Age Awards in the US. The two shortlistings seem at first to be rather contradictory, as the store finds itself shortlisted as Best Fashion Store and Best Non-Fashion Store. However, as the store itself offers an eclectic mixture of cutting edge clothing, gifts and homewares, the judges obviously felt it merited a home in both categories! Judging will be announced in the November issue of the magazine.
