SHH’s recent restaurant projects have been in the awards news again. This month, the McDonald’s flagship store in Oxford Street has been awarded a major North American retail design award, to add to the five retail and design awards it scooped in the UK over the course of 2004. The store has just won first prize in the Casual Fast Food category of the ‘Chain Store Age 2004 Retail Store of the Year’ design competition, run by Chain Store Age, the leading US retail trade magazine.

Meanwhile, back in the UK, Kyoto restaurant Umu, on London’s Bruton Place (for the Marlon Abela Restaurant Corporation), has just been awarded its first Michelin star, awarded within six months of the restaurant opening.
