After 2004’s awards bonanza for our Oxford Street flagship project for high-street giant McDonald’s, the focus moves this over this month to two restaurant projects at the other end of the market spectrum. SHH is delighted to announce that The Greenhouse, the SHH-designed Michelin-starred Mayfair restaurant (for client MARC) has just been awarded the ‘Restaurant of the Year’ Award in the prestigious ‘BMW Square Meal Awards’, beating very tough opposition, including Gordon Ramsay at Claridge’s. The judges commented ‘Very accomplished cooking, service as polished as anywhere, wonderfully elegant decor & an epic wine list immediately catapulted the operation into the top bracket, but it is the consistency of the whole package which gives The Greenhouse its competitive edge.’

Further good news came with the announcement that SHH’s second restaurant project for MARC (working with TonyChi&Associates, New York), Kyoto restaurant UMU in London’s Bruton Place, has been shortlisted for the Best Hospitality Environment at 2005’s Design Week Awards, to be held on 1st March.
