SHH were delighted to welcome a new retail client through its doors this month as highly individualistic independent retailer (and SHH staff favourite!) JOY asked SHH to move the brand’s retail interiors concept forward, as the retailer prepares to move outside London for the very first time. With a current tally of six highly successful stores in the London area (in Brixton, Putney, Chiswick, Clapham Junction, Fulham Broadway and Greenwich), JOY is now set to expand into other major cities across the UK. The first of the second-generation stores will open in Manchester at The Triangle Shopping Centre in December, with stores planned for early 2005 in Leeds and Birmingham and more openings to follow.
The 1900 sq ft Manchester store will have as its centrepiece a merchandised mini-amphitheatre to the rear of the store, comprised of a ‘stage’ area, backed by a 3m x 2m mirror surrounded by soft. Merchandising units will be an eclectic mix of tables and gondolas, bespoke-designed by SHH, with new feature ‘armadillo-style’ overlapping display panels. The scheme will be richly coloured, with feature walls in shades of cherry pink and purple, plus chocolate brown walls and ceiling.
